UBE Corporation is a Japanese chemicals manufacturer. The company was founded in 1897 and operated for many years as Ube Industries, Ltd. before deciding to focus its business on chemicals. For its newest production facility, UBE selected Gray to design and build a manufacturing plant in Waggaman, LA, to produce dimethyl carbonate (DMC) and ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC), organic compounds used as co-solvents for electrolyte in lithium-ion battery manufacturing. | For HiTHIUM’s first project with Gray and its first manufacturing facility in the U.S., the customer chose our design-build services to retrofit an existing 485,000 s.f. energy storage cell module assembly plant on the outskirts of Dallas. The plant will produce complete battery energy storage systems as well as battery modules and components.
