Kirohara House - Sugi

Pika-Pika® and Gendai® yakisugi "shou sugi ban" siding by Nakamoto Forestry. Gendai® is our most commonly specified yakisugi “shou sugi ban” surface for exterior applications. A light single brushing process knocks down the heavy soot layer and leaves a smooth, silky appearance with subtle burnt fiber crevasse shadows. For Pika-Pika®, two rounds of wire brushing remove all loose earlywood soot from the softer spring growth rings, leaving the late wood as contrasting burnt ridges. | All of Nakamoto Forestry's siding and paneling products are grown, harvested and milled at the Nakamoto family's forests and mills in Japan. Our Sugi siding and paneling is sawn from straight, high-grade Japanese logs that are graded for color and grain.
