UBE Corporation is a Japanese chemicals manufacturer. The company was founded in 1897 and operated for many years as Ube Industries, Ltd. before deciding to focus its business on chemicals. For its newest production facility, UBE selected Gray to design and build a manufacturing plant in Waggaman, LA, to produce dimethyl carbonate (DMC) and ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC), organic compounds used as co-solvents for electrolyte in lithium-ion battery manufacturing.
